CS-Cart “Estimate shipping cost” add-on

"Estimate shipping cost" add-on allows shoppers to estimate a shipping cost for a product on a product details page before making a purchase. This add-on displays the shipping cost for each shipping method based on the quantity and weight of items the customer orders and location of the customer.

Features:

Ability to estimate a shipping cost for a product on a product details page.
Easy-to-use "Estimate shipping cost” form.
Ability to choose the display mode for the "Estimate shipping cost" form - Drop-down or Pop-up.
Automatic shipping cost estimation depending on the quantity and weight of items and a customer location.
If there is not a setup shipping method for a selected location, customer gets a notification about it.

How does it work?

“Estimate shipping cost” link is shown on every product details page below “Add to cart” button. Click this link to expand the form.
Complete the form choosing your location, options and the quantity of items and click the "Shipping estimation" button.
The shipping cost will be displayed according to the available shipping method setup in the store.

Compatibility:

This add-on works correctly in Internet Explorer 7/8/9, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome and Opera latest browser versions.

The add-on is compatible with CS-Cart Pro 3.0.x. versions.

This add-on is also compatible with CS-Cart Pro 2.2.x.

We will make this add-on compatible with CS-Cart 4 by your request.

Please note! There is not a possibility to choose the display mode (Drop-down or Pop-up) for the "Estimate shipping cost" form for CS-Cart 2.2.х. Only drop-down is supported.

Notes:

1. "Estimate shipping cost" add-on uses the following hook

- products:view_main_info

that is why the add-on can be incompatible with other add-ons that use the same hook.

2. We offer free installation of this add-on only for the default CS-Cart versions (that don't have any serious file changes and additional modules). Otherwise, the installation may require additional charge.

3. After the payment is confirmed, you will be able to download the add-on from the order details page.

Installation instruction

1. Download the archive with the Estimate shipping cost add-on.

2. Unpack the archive's content and upload files to your server in the root directory with the installed CS-Cart.

3. Log into the administration panel of your store, go to the Administration -> Add-ons page.

4. In the list of add-ons find the Estimate shipping cost add-on and click Install opposite to its name.

5. Click the add-on settings and choose the necessary Display mode for the Estimate shipping cost form - Drop-down or Pop-up.

6. That's all. The Estimate shipping cost link will appear on every product details page,

"This was something I had been asked for by a client and found it whilst looking for the Rich Snippets Add On (see my other review).

Although the client ships free on most orders it was felt the cart was used for shipping cost estimation. They have seen a small reduction in abandoned carts which links to the installation of the add on.

"I had a small problem with the add-on but they corrected it really fast. Very good service.

The new popup option is a bit weird, in my opinion it should refresh and display the shipping quote inside the popup instead of closing it and display the quote under the "ESTIMATE SHIPPING COST" text link.

I find it a little confusing, especially if its between a lot of tabs and other options.
