CS-Cart Quick search add-on

This Quick search add-on is specially developed for CS-Cart 4.

The CS-Cart module extends the standard CS-Cart fast search functionality and allows customers to type just a few characters and see the relevant seek results immediately in a drop-down list. Also, this module includes a possibility to track items by a code.

Features of Quick Search module for CS-Cart:

The results are shown below the seek box in a drop-down list.
Uses AJAX search technology.
Ability to perform the product track by any of the typed words, all of the typed words or an exact phrase.
"Show all results" button in search results drop-down list.
Various add-on settings (looking for by product code, show image next to a product name in search results, ability to specify the number of displayed results, etc. See the Documentation for more details).

Compatibility:

The add-on works correctly in Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome and Opera latest browser versions.

The add-on is compatible with CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor v. 4.*

Notes

1. We offer free installation of this module only for the default CS-Cart versions (that don't have any serious file changes and additional modules). Otherwise, the installation may require an additional charge.

2. After the payment is confirmed, you will be able to download the module from the order details page.

The Add-on settings

In the admin back-end go to Add-ons → Manage add-ons. Click the Quick search.

First generate the product catalog by clicking on the link given on the settings page. It is required for the proper functioning of the Quick search add-on on the storefront.

Specify the add-on settings:

1. Search result appearance

Show the "Show all results" button - select the checkbox to display the "Show all results" button in the drop-down list.
Show short description of the product - select the checkbox to dispaly a product short description (if any) in a drop-down list.
Number of user search phrases - Number of search phrases to be displayed in the search result drop-down list;
Number of products in search result - Number of products to be displayed in the search result drop-down list;
Number of news reports in search result (you should enable "Search in news" first) - Number of news items to be displayed in the search result drop-down list;
Number of pages in search result (you should enable "Search in pages" first) - Number of pages to be displayed in the search result drop-down list;
Show product images in the popup menu (The "Search in pages" and "Search in site news" options must be disabled) - If selected, the product image will be displayed next to the product title in the search result drop-down list. To disable Search in pages and Search in news, go to Settings -> General in the admin back-end.

2. Search settings

Minimal phrase length - Number of characters to be typed to activate quick search;
Search by product code - Tick this checkbox to search by the product code.

3. Search by product name

Search products only by product name - If selected, the search will be performed by the product name only;
Match type - To make the search results more precise, select whether to perform the search by any of the typed words, all of the typed words or an exact phrase.

Don't forget to save changes.

Installation instruction

1. Download the archive with the Quick search add-on.

2. Unpack the archive's content and upload files to your server in the root directory with the installed CS-Cart.

3. Log into the administration panel of your store, go to the Add-ons -> Manage add-ons.

4. In the list of add-ons find the Quick search add-on and click Install opposite to its name.

5. Make sure that the status is Active.

6. That's all, the add-on is installed.
